Is it a Conflict of interest?

-I have been working at a child care center in my home town for

3months on a casual basis. During the school holidays there was no work for me as they were not busy and did not have the numbers. Then came the floods in qld and the childcare centre was closed for 3 weeks. I am studying my cert 3 in childrens and need to keep up with gaining hours towards my certificate. So i applied for work at my local school (Out side of School hours ) and geting 3 mornings a week at 2 hours a day. Anyway now my Childcare centre is saying that its conflict of interest and is not happy about that. What do you think? No. There is no law stating you can't have two jobs. You have to make money somehow. The only way it could be considered a conflict of interest is if it's stated in your employment agreement or something which I doubt.
This is not a conflict of interest. It is perfectly normal to have a second job along with your normal child care job.
I'm not sure what they mean by this. Sounds like they're getting their terminology mixed up.

A conflict of interest is when something you're doing by it's nature has an adverse affect on something else you're doing or has the potential to prejudice the way you behave or make decisions in something else you're doing.

In this case, working at an OOSH care centre can't possibly affect how you perform in your other job. I'd say they're complimentary, each role teaching you about a different type of caring situation.

You can only ask them to clarify their concerns. I'd say that when the person you spoke to tries to articulate her concerns, she'll find they aren't very convincing, even to her.
