Simple pre calc question?

-so question is.... (f/g)(-1) - g(3) ...where f is x^2+1 and g is x-4Preschool is about little kids. You need to post this in homework help.

Research topic for phd on early childhood education?

-current issues in early childhood education that could be researched for phd levelEffects of video game use on attention span on follow-on task, or expectation of easy success/ strength of will in resistance to temptation for denied object - conversely, effects of reading or playing simple board game with significant caregiver for same amount of time.

Or, effect of listening to judgemental rhetoric from teevee or other in room and subsequent play, as opposed to listening to Mr. Rogersesque rhetoric on their play.

What is the correct age to join pre kg schooling?

-2 3 years.. But best is to keep them away from pre school for slightly longer time period as the mother is the best teacher in the world.PreK in the U.S. is typically the year before Kindergarten. Preschool usually is a classroom that serves 2.5years-5 year olds. The "correct age" depends on the family and individual child's needs. I recommend at least 1 year of preschool prior to Kindergarten because the standards are so much more higher that the majority of the "social learning" must already have taken place. It use to be the Kindergarten was "preschool". That's no longer the case and most Kindergartens focus on academics now a days. A child with special needs, a first child who has not been with any other caregiver beside parent or grand parent, a youngest child of a large family and others often benefit from 2 years of preschool. Good luck in your decision making.
Generally, it depends on the maturity of your child. If they are ready to be away from mom and socialize with other children for an hour or two on their own, preschool should be a wonderful experience. Frequently, it helps to start with 2 days a week at age 3 and then 3 days a week at age 4. This helps them build up to the 5 days a week experience of Kindergarten.
2-3 yrs in my opinion to help your toddlers become more sociable and active with hopefully likeminded kids and learning together quickly at this stage onwards is a great advantage!
3 years for international school admissions are open in chennai
2.5 to 3 years
i think its 4 or 5

Moving to Fort Walton Beach FL, any suggestions?

-Hi,

i have to move with my family on Fort Walton Beach this summer. I have two 4 years old daughters and i would like to know which areas have the best scholastic districts. I am looking for any kind of suggestions regarding housing and secure neighborhoods in which to live. Thank you

My 4 yr. old grandson has a speech delay?

-he has been in speech therapy since he was about 2& a half. He has gone to preschool special classes since he was 3. He's very intelligent, except for this. My daughter says he's doing very good, she understands him, but I have no idea what he's saying. Anyone have a similar experience? Please help?I obviously do not know your grandson, nor the extent of his speech delay, but I'd honestly not be too worried about his progress until around the age of 8 or 9. The muscles in your throat actually take a very long time to develop (it's why some kids say "wabbit" until the second grade).

The best thing I've learned is to always encourage speech. Even if you don't know what they're saying, encourage them to talk (I actually have a child in my class who has a PDD and, as a result, very non-verbal. I can barely understand him, but I'll ask him to use his words, even when he can tell me what he wants with pointing). Sometimes I'll say things like, "I'm sorry. You're trying to tell me something and I just can't figure it out. Let's work on this so I can understand you better."

I also encourage singing. The same way singing helps children who do not speak English learn the language, singing works wonders for those who need help developing their throat muscles. It can even be just some "la la la la la" to a melody.

I hope I helped!Don't get panic for this speech delay. It may be curable if he undergoes regular speaking practice. And also give moral support, practical support. You can hire tutors from http://www.tutorz.com/ to give reading, speaking practice to your child.
If you have a bad connection, sometimes Skype has trouble keeping up. Try resetting your router.

We are moving to the Palo Alto area of California and would like to know of any true Montessori schools?

-I haven't worked in the Bay Area for many years, so I wasn't going to answer your question, but since no one else has really answered it, I will tell you what I know.

I took my Montessori training with teachers from Heads Up Montessori. They seemed to be aware, educated, and caring. I visited the school once in the mid-90's and was amazed to see that every elementary child had their own computer. Most of the other schools had one or two for the whole school. Now a computer per child might not seem very Montessori, but when used correctly, for research, it really can be.

Sorry, but this is the only school I feel comfortable referring you to and I have no real idea of what they are like today, but at least it is a place to start for you. There are definitely others in the area that are very good, but I have been out of the loop for many years and don't know which ones are still around.

One set of schools to stay AWAY from are the Pioneer Schools. I heard that at one time they were wonderful, but the man who started them died and his second wife inherited them. She wasn't an educator, and had no real interest in Montessori. Her only reason for keeping the schools was to make money. (She lived in Hawaii and had people fax her with questions or problems. My first memory of her was when she had flown in for her yearly staff evaluations.I heard her yelling at a teacher to "Get off of her high Montessori horse!" She was adamant. The children couldn't pour their own drinks. They could spill them and that would ruin the rug she just put in. (Anyone who knows Montessori philosophy knows that this goes completely against one of the most basic tenets of the philosophy.)

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If you want some information on finding authentic Montessori schools, here is a link that might help you. http://www.montessorianswers.com/selecti鈥?/a>http://www.pamontessori.com/

Yes. I also gave you the Waldorf School link.

What is the currently accepted approach to using hugs by childcare workers?

-I'd appreciate responses from childcare workers currently working in Australia .

Is it acceptable and it what types of situations? The child should offer you a hug and you should accept it. Don't say, "Give me a hug" where you're pressuring the child to hug you. Give the child a "high-five", but don't go and give them a hug that they didn't initiate.

I am 15 and I love to work with kids, will daycare centers hire me?

-if you what to work in a daycare center you would have to go to college and get at least a level 3 qualification in childcare. the placement you do while on the course would look great on your CV. placements would also be able to give you references when you look for a jobI think daycare centers cannot hired you because your age is not enough to pass the requirement that center want.
try volunteering a couple of hours at a time. in another year , they can hire you part time as long as it does not interfere with school.
Nope. You have to be qualified and certified.

What is the difference between preshcool and kindergarten. also paiting question?

-Hi,

what is the difference between preshcool and kindergarten?

Also, I have to lecture about real estate business to 5 yrs olds. I want to bring a poster. what do you suggest I draw on it in addition to an apartment building?

THANKS.nahh i woundnt

Do you believe all children can learn? how do you demostrate this belief in the classroom?

-Yes,all children in my opinion have potential and different talents and helping them develop themselves as fully fledged individuals takes individual and group activities which should be encouraged in all schools.......just keep on telling your kids they are great and doing well and motivate them by playing/talking etc.....Yes all children can. It depends of what categories of children you have. If you have a special kids they need different approach and there are teachers that are specializing in that area, so if you have kids don't worry you only need to know the needs of your kids, but if you are a teacher I know you have practice for that.
Norge good question on your part. A child is there to absorb what is presented. A calm approach to teaching K grades & below require that inscructor to take extra care & time. Use those guidelines and you will do fine
Yes

What toys can help with learning/development?

-It depends on what age group you are working with. Look up a KAPLAN Early Learning or HATCH catalogue on-line or look up these products on Amazon.com and they will tell you which educational toys are appropriate depending on the age. Leap Frog interactive toys are educational and my nieces are crazy about them. The beauty of children between the ages of 0 - 8 is that downright everything helps learning development. Those blocks are teaching them spacial skills, architecture, problem solving. Those dolls are helping them understand social rules and rituals.

Some toys I have in my Pre-K classroom include the following:

- Magnet tiles (of various geometric shapes)

- Peg boards (sorting by colors, etc, is the foundation to math)

- Large wooden beads and string

- Multicultural dollhouse dolls (or various skin tones and family types)

- Composition notebooks (this addition has been AMAZING -- each kid gets their own notebook with their name on it. They're available to be taken/used and can be used in any area, as long as they're safe with the pencils (which they can also grab whenever). They write "diagnoses" when they pretend dress-up is a doctor's office, they draw pictures of their buildings in block area, they pretend to do "homework", etc)

- Legos

- "Bingo" games (where they match a picture on a card with a picture on a board)

- Puzzles (puzzles are honestly the perfect type of toy. Spacial skills, problem solving skills, cause & effect...I could go on)

- Peg "mazes" (perfect for fine motor skills)

- Sensory bottles (regular water bottles filled with various things, like oil & water, or various items that sink or float, etc)

- Mr Potato Head (sounds silly, but that teaches them that parts contribute to a whole -- you have to learn that a face is made up of two eyes, a nose, a mouth, or that a car is made up of four wheels, doors, etc)

Essentially, if the child has to actively engage in the day (as opposed to passive enjoyment like TV), it's good for their learning and development! It's even better with a teacher next to them talking about the toy and suggesting different ways of using them)
Leap Frog has a toy and letters you place the letter on the board and push the letter it says the letter and sings a short song telling how the letter sounds. you can buy the letters in capital lowercase and get the numbers. Also from Leap frog my first computer,
Blocks are great. Lego for older kids. Also just having lots of art supplies around - crayons and paper is fantastic. Books too, you can never have enough books. However, remember it is not just the toys that you have around, but the time that you spend playing with your kids.
Many toys have a learning/ developmental benefit to them:

-fine motor skills: lego, dress up dolls, play doh

-large motor skills: balls, skipping ropes

-problem solving: puzzles, blocks

-team work, cooperation, counting: board games, cards
Toys that has big letters and big numbers can easily hook-up the interest of youngs... I suggest to give them a puzzles that can help to sharp their minds...
also you can buy blocks with numbers
diploma in electrical engineering
condoms REALLY help with deveopment of children! No.. Wait they PREVENT it. I was wrong.
High-tech toys.
your dildo isn't so leave it at home!

Help with this please, setting up and running a children's centre?

-Hi

I want to set up a children's centre where i can offer children between the age of 1 to 14 different services.

I have a 15.000拢 budget, and i can borrow another 15.000拢 but i really need this to be sustainable,

I am also unsure of the services i should offer, i have already broken down the age groups

0-1 can have mummy & me classes

1-3 can have playgroups with other children of the same age range

3-4 can have playgroups or sports (soccer, t-ball,), take outings to the park

4-6 can have arts & crafts classes, sports, homework help, big brother/sister groups

6-8 can have arts & crafts, sports, homework help, groups

8-10 can have sports, homework help, (pre-teen) groups, mentor younger kids,

10-14 can have sports, homework help (or help others with homework), teen groups, mentor younger kids & teen chat.

How do i make this sustainable, my idea is to go to different business's in the local area and ask them if they could support this centre, similar to what the government are doing with their program, where business sponsor schools.

Another question is the issue of working with small children, what are the things that i need to be aware off, what checks shall i do.

i just want to do something for my community.each country and city has guidelines for the same. these can be downloaded or received from local education department

What are the requirements to become a preschool teacher?

-in dallas tx

what are great community colleges to start off or get the degreeYou'll probably need a BS in Child Development or Early Childhood Education.

You can work with two year old children if you have an AAS from a community college in Child Development Technology or Early Childhood Education Technology.

I want to become a nursery nurse or a childminder, I do not have any relevent qualifications but...?

-Do have a years experience of working with children and babies. Does anyone know of the best advice line I could call in the UK to give me some information of how to get started and options? Or the best website I could go on to? Many thanks

BeckyFind the college thats nearest to where you are going to live and email them, they can help you with the course that fits your experience or your plans, such as day nursery, schools, special schools, child minder or even working with ill children in hospital. I dont know how old you are, but you could go and do some voluntary experience during the holidays at a child minders, day nursery or on play schemes, including play schemes for children with special needs to show how commited you are, or to get a bit more experience than other college applicants. Em x

Explain what is meant by holistic development?

-I assume this is about children's development.

Holistic development is looking at a child's overall needs and development as a whole, rather than labelling each area as just 'physical development' or 'social development', etc. It's important to group these areas together holistically to ensure a child's wellbeing and overall development is linked with their age and stage.

That's my interpretation anyway. ^_^

What happens when you volunteer at a daycare?

-What happens if you are volunteering at a daycare and you dont do a good job? Or the people don't think you did a good job watching the kids? What happens? What do they do?They dismiss you and request that you stop volunteering for them. At an extreme, if you refuse to leave or continue to come back after they've dismissed you, they call the police and have you arrested for trespassing, and/or put a restraining order on you.
they would more than likely tell you that you are no longer needed

Why my 3 year old son isnt talking?

-my son will turn 3 on 16 feb 2011. as a 8 month old baby he used to say "ma" and a few other words. till 18 months he was progreesing with his age group but then suddenly fell behind. now except for a few words, he doesnt say any sentences, communicates through pointing mostly. he's otherwise very smart, can identify more than 10 colours, knows more than 10 shapes, knows 1-12, A-G and can identify around 50 animals easily. he used to be very fond of children and enjoyed their company, but recently we've put him in pre-school to encourage his socialising with children, but there he seems to be avoiding mingling with the other kids. he's the only one in the class who doesnt speak. we've consulted neurologists, therapists and child specialists and they all dismissed the idea of him being autistic. he's very fond of books and enjoys drawing and watching baby einstein and barney. he follows instructions, reacts to emotions and appears to be ahead of the other children except when it comes to talking. his jaw, throat and tongue have been tested too and there seems to be no problem. we have been practising some speech exercises at home, suggested by the therapist for the last 3 1/2 months but there has been very little improvement. he stops at the first syllable for most words like for elephant he says "aal" but however says "bubble" and "turtle" quite clearly. a few days back he said "owl" 2/3 times for the first time but never repeated it later. he has a 14 months old sibling whom he adores, is never jealous of and very possessive about. at school his teacher said he requires "extra" attention. he's very attached to me and we dont socialise too much. i'm a stay home mom so he's also getting my 100%. i dont know where i went wrong! i feel hopeless now and feel frustrated with all the "trying". i wasnt initially concerned till he was 2 1/2 years. sometimes i lose patience and scream for the most negligible reason. i feel like i'm in a dark hole. please help!!MAYBE he need to learn how to speak. Also if you want him to talk you need to teach them.
Maybe she doesen't want to talk yet! :)
probably doesnt have much to say
First of all you should not feel that you have done anything wrong but if you are losing patience you need to address that. It will not help your son for you to feel guilty about anything. In fact, he may be picking up on it and that could be furthering the problem. So just relax. It sounds like he can talk , he is smart and you have taken him to make sure there is nothing causing the delay so you have done a good thing there, you should be happy with yourself for seeing the situation and following through with that. But now you know that there is nothing causing the speech delay so just relax. He will start to talk when he is ready. My grand daughter is 4 and only talks when she has something to say but she can talk and things are clear just as they are with your son. Her parents sent her to school and she fell backwards with talking. They took her out of school and are playing games and stimulating her in different ways, now she is picking back up and talking again. There is something called being a " selective mute" . This term means just what is says, they select when to talk and when not to talk, but they can talk , there is nothing wrong with them. You have proven this by taking him to doctors and nothing is wrong. I am not a medical doctor, nurse, teacher or anything like that. I just know what I have seen with my son and my granddaughter. The best thing you could do for him is to just relax, let him be himself without the pressure of having to talk. I play games with my little granddaughter like whispering. That way she feels no pressure to perform. To talk out loud means that people will listen to her and that puts "pressure" on her and the more pressure, the less talking she will do. That is why I say relax, enjoy playing games with him that are non performing type games. Where he will learn and hear but lets him feel he has the say if he talks or not. Make sounds when you play cars with him and he will follow along with you, playing games, that is the key. Enjoy your time with him while he is still young without the pressure to perform.
My son didn't talk well until he was over 3 and he needed speech therapy. He's now a university graduate with a good job, so there's hope. The main thing you need to do first is get his hearing checked. It turned out my son had to have tubes in his ears, and later tonsils and adenoids out. (Stressful at the time, but all part of life) One way you can see if he might have a hearing problem is to say something quietly while his back is turned and see if he responds. Also, notice if he avoids crunchy foods

because chewing those is uncomfortably loud for hearing impaired children. If the hearing is OK, then he needs to be made to ask for things. My son used to point or even mime what he wanted,

so it's important to be firm. "I don't understand. You have to tell me." Also, little rewards, like

stickers, could be given for speech.
not to scare you at all but it is a possibilty, my boss just went thru this. it's a disfuntion with the skull...it grew to fast at birth and hardend before it was suppose to. he was barely talking trying to make words but it didn't work. after the surgery he was speaking in full sentances...idk just another option....
First of all, it is important not to blame yourself, speech is developmental and your son may just not be ready to speak. Also, try not to lose your patience as this may cause your son to withdraw. It is important to continue to monitor his progress. Your son sounds very intelligent. If his speech delay continue, you might want to consult with other specialists. You could also see if there's a program for preschoolers in your area that includes children with language delays.
Do you know what he wants and get it with a point? Instead of having him ask for it?

He will grow into preschool. He is attached to you and it is his first experience away from you. It takes time. If you have had him tested, then let things happen naturally. If he wants something, have him say it before giving it to him, and not a clear word, but an attempt. Continue to do it, and he'll get the hang of it. Read lots of stories, and ask him what he wants and name everything he wants. If he wants milk, get out the milk and tell him MILK then before you hand it to him ask him to say Milk. It is simple but tends to work.

How old do u have to be to start pre k in buffalo ny schools?

-2 years and 4 monthsSince you must be 5 by Dec. 31 of the school year to enter Kindergarten you must be 4 by Dec. 31 of the school year to enter pre-k.

What credentials do youneed to be an assistant preschool teacher?

-do I need an undergraduate degree or a masters degree to be an assistant preschool teacherDepends on where you are trying to be employed at. :-) Many day care centers will higher assistants with a HS diploma or equivalent. A federal or stated funded preschool program will do the same with the aide position but associate teacher needs a bit more education and the lead teacher needs a bachelor's degere with an early childhood endorsement. Most places encourages you to go for at least a CDA. But to start out...no degree is usually required for assistant position.
most places take you with 16-24 units of child development and/or general ed. classes. others, would ask you for an associates teacher's permit. It'll work better if you check with the agency or school you are interested working at and consider visiting your school consuler.
Knowledge of preschool and showing you're taking courses towards a related field.
A PhD. And colledge experience. those beers didn't chug themselves! :D
Ask your counselor at the college.

Need Suggestions---Celebrating Multi-Culture?

-I teach children ages 3 to 5yrs old and we are celebrating Multi-Culture this week. We have to ask for donations from the parents by bringing a dish (purchased from a vendor only). The country we are celebrating is Egypt but I'm not sure of what to ask the parents to bring. Egypt Cuisine is more of lentils, okra, breads, hummus, pita breads, fish, potatoes, carrots, veal, beef. All foods that kids would usually turn their noses up too!Seriously? What are the kids supposed to learn from this? What an abstract concept, unless your kids in class are from that region. And you are asking much from the parents. Some 'multicultural' foods are very expensive, and kids not familiar with the food will snub the stuff. Our taste buds are made for 'our' foods. Coca'Cola, for example, has formulas to march tastes for different countries around the world. Our Coca-Cola is nice and sweet compare to the more bitter 'Italian' version of Coke. Sounds more like 'Multi-Culture Week" is more like a biased tourist approach to developing an appreciation for people not like them. Our school does 'cultural foods', and I feel it is more 'biased' and 'stereotypes' of a culture. As a teacher, I think this has no value for the class. As a parent, I would politely say, "Sorry, I will not participate."

Activities to with children in a Nursery?

-I've been employed to work in a nursery, only problem is that next week is my trial run and if I do well I'll get the job. Can someone tell me some activities and games I can play with the children to impress my boss?

ThanksThe best way to impress your boss is by doing a good job. You obviously want to o Good job and believe that you can, so do just that! Stick to the kids' level. You don't need to sing them songs about chemistry. If you do any fun age appropriate activity (obviously educational). The kids will enjoy it and show interest in learning. Try it with games and song!!!!!
How old are the children?
try doing an art project, with them. I was in the same position, so, I hope it helps

Can you deduct child's preschool fees?

-You can claim it only if you are working and the preschool is happening as a day care arrangement. It is not a deduction it is a child care tax credit. Go to the IRS website for clarification.deduct it from what? :-) In most situations you can claim preschool expenses as child care for your taxes.

Preschool book ideas ?

-How would I introduce the book "were going on a bear hunt" to preschoolers and what would the children learn from thus bOokThis is a good sequencing good. :-) So you can probably go with something in that category for "learning".

The children like it when I create a "peek a boo" sheet for intro to the book. I usually cut out a simple shape in a piece of paper large enough to cover the front cover. Then we move the paper around the book to see what they can see and all the while they talk about what the book might be about. Then we remove the paper and see the whole front cover and discuss it a bit more. We also talk about the author and illustrator as well as the different parts of the book (spine, front/back cover, etc.)I would start off asking questions

Who has seen a bear?

Where do we see bears?

What color bears have you seen?

The kids would learn different types of moving. Have then act out the running, and moving through the bushes and such.

18 units requirements n putting up a pre school?

-Try Googling your information and Good luck!

Because I was working during 2010, I had to enroll my son in a private school (Pre-K), is it deductible?

-My other option was a "daycare" that charged 50 less a month.http://blissfullydomestic.com/2010/is-private-school-tuition-tax-deductible. Child care is tax deductible and the link on the prior response is a great one too. There is a tax credit for child and dependent care expenses before Kindergarten, if you qualify, and for before/after school care in K, until age 13.

Check to see if you will qualify:

Mean and loud teacher of two year old children and she works down the hall from me. What should I do?

-There is a woman who works down the hall from me in a large Baptist day care center and elementary school. She scares her ten little students with loud commands, steely stares, and lots of humiliation. She's got them trained to sit very quietly in the cafeteria while they eat their meals. The kids never smile, they're "wide-eyed", and they seem to be terrified of her. While the kids eat quietly, she stays at another table and she texts on her Apple I phone constantly. Should I say anything to the director? I'm wondering if "tattle-tales" and "know-it-alls" always lose in these types of situations. Will the director perceive me as a "trouble-maker". Should I just ignore all this and just do my job? I work with the preschoolers and I could just do my job to the best of my ability and leave the other day care teachers alone. What do you think?First of all, most teachers are not like this, whether they work in public or private schools or preschools. You have a moral and professional obligation to speak with your supervisor. Do you know any parents of the children in that class? It might be necessary to speak with them. As a professional you must put the needs of the children first. Keep detailed notes and write down what you hear her say and whatever you see. Is the school attached to a church? Maybe you need to speak to the pastor.
Honestly I was in a private school for a couple years and for all my teachers this was the normal...BUT i would report it to the principal and see where that gets you.
Well, I find this in many day care centers and private schools. And what is done? VERY LITTLE. If parents knew the crap their kids had to deal with at 'preschool' parents would stay home till their were old enough to communicate the belittling from their teacher. Again, you could anonymously contact child day care licensing and have a surprise inspection. Anyone can call, and you don't have to give a name. This lady is abusive, and the school could care less.
If you are hearing her and are aware of her unprofessional behavior, so are others, probably including the director. It's not your job to correct her behavior, even though you know she is in the wrong. Model the appropriate and professional behaviors yourself at all times. If you are in the cafeteria at the same time as her class, make an effort to interact with her class a little. Smile at the children, offer to help with opening packages, make a little light conversation, learn their names and make sure they know yours. You may have them next year and you will be building a positive foundation with them. She may pick up on your more professional attitude, also. On the other hand, she may complain either to you or to the director about how you are "interfering" with her class. What a great opportunity for you to express your thoughts without having to open a complaint! You can then explain that you feel that lunch time is a great opportunity for conversation and social interaction, and you were just trying to help since the teacher seems quite busy at that time. Point made, and done in a pleasant, professional manner without complaining. As far as her classroom behaviors go, stay out of it until someone asks for your thoughts. If your parents complain about what they see and hear, tell them you understand what they are saying and encourage them to share their thoughts with the director. Be patient. If they haven't said anything to you yet, they will. Someone will notice and comment.

How can I avoid having to use the bathroom during a long plane trip?

-New York to Rio(Brazil)....I'm always in the window seat boxed in by sleeping parents and older sister sits in next row(shes in high school). I'm shy/embarrassed about having to make scene about going on the plane.Antes de viajar va no banheiro do aeroporto e fike 30 minutos la pra solta tudo mais talves ira 1 ou 2 vezes no banheiro :)
I bet your parents and sister get up sometime. Get up when they do. It is unhealthy to not go for that long and to not stretch your legs.
Bring a large bottle. discreetly pee in it. Then, drink it. No one will ever know!!

What list is there for Toddlers Beginning Preschool?

-My son is turning 4 this year, and can go to preschool next year.

When I research things your child should be able to do before they start school, I find school 'lists' for beginning big school (kindergarten or year 1 depending on what state you live in), but none for starting preschool.

Example: For starting big school, a child should know how to cut, paste, use pencils, share, pull pants up and down, wipe their own bottom. This particular list also has "Now would be a good time to start practicing doing up buttons."

This list only has a few things that my son can't do. For example, he can't (Or refuses to) wipe his own bottom after using the toilet. He also can't do up buttons. I'm not really worried about either of these, as he recognises colours, shapes, and he's learning to recognise letters of the alphabet. He knows how to sing the alphabet and only gets "m n o" wrong.

Is there a list out there for starting preschool? Does anyone have any tips? What your son already knows is great! What a great parent you are! You could work on more self help bathroom skills, as well as the buttons, tying shoes etc. However, many preschools have manipulatives that help with these skills. In addition to what your son already knows, expressing his wants and needs is of high importance. Communication skills will help the teachers to better help him and let you know what he is learning, as well as how he is adjusting to his new experience. Fine motor coordination and visual motor skills will be developed by you through turning pages of the books that you read to him, putting puzzles together, drawing with big crayons, picking up after himself, finger painting ( some even do this with pudding, under adult supervision, of course).

Being able to listen and relate to stories for a period of time, as well as following one and two step directions is also of high importance. Getting along well with other children, adults and showing respect are vital for a successful preschool experience. I definitely think that you are on the right track. I wish you and your son a happy, healthy and victorious preschool experience.

What schooling is required to become a preschool teacher?

-I am out of high school, already taken a few classes in college, but im taking a break from college this quarter to figure out what I want to do.

I really would like to become a preschool teacher or a private school elementary teacher, but I know nothing about the exact schooling required for this.

Does anyone have experience in this field?

Does anyone know how many years of college this would require, or if there is a special program i could take to pursue this? Also if you can get an online degree for this, and which online school would be the best?

Thank you!asadsgdfg

How long is preschool during the day?

-Like, how long do the children stay in preschool before the parents come to pick them up?

For United States, I mean...Usually preschool is half day. 4 hrs either in the morning our afternoon 8 ta noon and 1 to 4 were my child's hours. If u are late picking your kid up they can call the police. My nephews is from 8-2 and they have nap.

Describe reasons puppets are a part of preschool language arts programs.?

-It's an entertaining way to teach children all kinds of skills. Learning to get along with one another is a major social skill to be learned in pre school. It allows the child to further their communication and oral skills. To watch a puppet show can be a fun time at a birthday party for children of this age.Children identify with puppets and this facilitates communication and language arts development.

Puppets represent characters with which children can identify.

Puppets are easily manipulated by children and are familiar to them.

Puppets are a relatively inexpensive manipulative; a source children can manipulate enhances their learning and retention.

Puppets transcend cultural and language barriers.

Puppets are fun and add enjoyment to learning.

Puppets are accessible to most members in a population.

Preschool Child toy suggestion?

-I need some suggestions. I do not have children and I have to mentally develop a toy for a preshcool child 2-6 years old for my pschology class. I have to keep in mind the phsycial, cognitive and social needs of a preschool child.Age appropriate toys for preschoolers

Flannel board with pictures, letters; sturdy numbers and letters

Puzzles with more pieces, simple card board games

More unit block shapes and accessories and realistic motor vehicles

Construction set with smaller pieces

Bowling pins, ring toss, bean bags and target

Child-sized stove or sink, toy telephone, play food, more dress up clothes, dolls carriage and accessories

What is pre loop and post loop in C?

-Are you referring to pre-TEST and post-TEST loops?

Pre-test loop is when you do some calculation or some function before checking to see if a condition is met. A post-test loop is when calculations are done after a condition is checked.

Pre-test loop (check condition before calculations are done)

while (x < 10) do

// some function

Post-test loop

do

// some function

until (x = 10)

Pre-test is useful if you want to check to determine if the calculations even need to be done BEFORE doing them. For example, if you write a program that checks the current date to find out if today is your birthday, you would check the date BEFORE throwing the party, so your code would look something like this:

if (today == (April 10)) then

ThrowBirthdayParty;

However, if you replace the above code with a post-test loop, you get this:

do

ThrowBirthdayParty

until (today <> (April 10));

What happens in the second example is that the birthday party is thrown BEFORE cheching to see if it needs to be thrown, which is what we don't want in this situation. However, if you do want to perform a function before any checking is done, this can be useful for situations like filling a bucket with grains of sand (when you know for a fact the bucket is empty to begin with).

do

TossInGrainOfSand

while (Bucket <> Empty);

Hope this helps!

What kind of classes do you have to take to work at a daycare?

-I live in Burton, Michigan and i need to know what kind of classes i need to take? if they will let me bring my son to the daycare? and what age you have to be to work at a daycare? im 19 will be 20 in march! Most day cares will hire at 18. Any younger they can't legally leave you in charge or alone with the children.

Most day cares will hire with minimal or no experience for an aide-assistant position. They will require a HS diploma or equivalent. And of course, it varies from day care to day care. Some have higher standards. They usually provide CPR/First Aid certification but some may require you to get it on your own. Taking early childhood classes and even getting your CDA would be benefitial. Many daycares will work around a school schedule. They love staff who have or are in the process of earning an early childhood degree. :-)

Yes, most will allow you to bring your son but remember that 1) he may not be in the same classroom as you 2) you may still have to pay 50-100% of tuition. I know of some who consider child care of your children a "benefit" but most do not.

Good luck!
Some daycares don't require classes but some do. I know their are four very basic classes that you need to take to receive a certificate. You can look at this website NAEYC. This will help you for out what classes that you need. They can help direct you in the right area that you live in if you call. I know this because I am a preschool teacher who is currently finishing up my bachelors in Early Childhood Education.

Need a game for young children in Sunday school... any suggestions?

-I need a good game to play for children between the ages of 6 - 8. There may be anywhere between 2 to 6 kids in our class, but usually we have just 3. We try to play a game at the end of class for 10 -15min and I think the kids are getting bored of playing red light green light every week (or at least I am lol). I don't have a lot of experience with kids so I'm a little stomped trying to come up with ideas. Please help :< )"Teacher, may I" - child asks questions like "teacher, may I take 3 giant steps?" and the teacher can respond with "yes/no, take 2 giant steps/no, take 3 hops" etc. with the goal to be the first to cross a line/touch an object.

You can do word based games - simple riddles, secret codes (cryptograms) using bible phrases, crosswords etc. too.Why you don't try to used "Guess a Who Game" you will going to put a things on the players head that can be possibly a place, name of a celebrity, etc, or any thing that can help them to catch it... just used the word yes, no, or the word maybe in guessing the item..

Preschoolers book help?

-What type if book is it and what will children learn. What are some open ended question I can ask the children. How could I accommodate dual language children and children with a special need. This is for preschoolThat last responder was very rude.

But your question is also very ambiguous. Are you looking for books or help coming up with questions about a specific book?

There are lots of great books out there for preschoolers. My best advice is to listen to what the kids talk about. Find books about things that they are interested in and they'll always learn something. Even books that seem like pure fluff to a grown-up have learning moments for preschoolers. They don't see the world in the same way adults do, and they'll make connections that you never even thought of.

As for questions, make sure you keep them simple. Preschoolers are smarter than people often give them credit for, but again they don't think the same way that grow-ups do. Especially with open-ended questions you have to make sure to put it into their language.

For kids who speak another language at home, it's easy to find books with words from other languages (especially Spanish). But if books are hard to find, you can always ask their parents for words that you could use around the classroom, or just grab a dictionary and start learning things here and there.

As for special needs children, that's almost impossible to answer. Special needs is a broad term. It comes down to what kind of need the child has and what kind of center you work in. Every situation is different, so there's really no over-arching advice I can give you.

I hope this helps. =)Do your own work. This is not a site to help you do your homework.

How much does it cost (Australia, nsw) for childcare?

-I need to know what the prices are (per day) to place a child in:

*Long Daycare

*Preschool

*Family Daycare

*Occassional Care

If you have a child in daycare, can you tell me how much you pay? Do you get a discount if they are there for several days?

I'm fairly sure I'm not entitled to any benefits or rebates or anything like that, so just the full price would be great!

Early Childhood Development Class for Preschool Job?

-I was hired as a translator for a daycare center but the only problem is, the recruiter asked me to have atleast 6 units to show the licensees that I am working towards my goal to becoming a preschool teacher (which I will do..eventually) All the community colleges I registered for already started their semester so I was wondering if I could just take an Early Childhood Development Class online? If so, which website can I trust and learn from?

Thanks so much.

Serious answers only please :)If your local college really doesn't have any 1 unit half-semester ECE classes (which it probably does if it has any ECE at all) you could also try American Red Cross for first aid, CPR, etc. It sounds like you haven't actually talked to the college about taking child development, now or in the future. Honey, if you don't have experience working with live children or any educational background, you should be honest even if it means you don't get the job. Would you take a medical translating job with no knowledge of medical terms or a court translating job without knowing anything about the law? Who deserves the best-qualified candidate more than kids and parents?
I would check in your area when colleges start back up for the new semester. I am a preschool teacher who is currently finish up my bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education. Most online classes already started. I do hope this really helps you. And good luck.

It gives you some preschool activities and preschool games ideas and you may find it interesting. I dont know if it contains ideas with birds yet but teachers can submit activity ideas and they will be published!

I hope this helps.

Some great games are active listening games! Try playing some music and have them interpret the tempo (fast/slow) with scarves or with their dance movements! Or even since you are doing a bird theme, have them show how the bird would be flying to that music. Play some bird calls and have them imitate the sounds they hear. These are great activities to help increase their cognitive skills and really shows them how to listen effectively. Hope that helps!!

A fun activity would be to make a pine-cone bird feeder. There are some great ideas on the web.

Please see the first link below. The second link has articles on early childhood development.
Simple games like four corners, guess who, or even drawing (with crayons!). Kids use their imagination more often then not so think around that. Hope it helps and good luck!

Should I study full time or part time - Bachelor ECE?

-Advice please! I am going to enrol to study at Auckland Uni extramurally. I have a daughter in her second year of primary school and I want to balance family and study time. The problem is that I haven't done any uni courses before and I don't really know how much work is involved. I'm thinking of enrolling in 3 courses per semester (part time is normally 2 courses and full time is 4). If anyone has done a Bachelor Ed ECE, I'd really appreciate some advice about what you think a mum could handle while still having time for family.Your idea to start with 3 classes is a good one. It will give you a feel for how much you can handle. It's very much an individual matter because everyone is different. Think of it as one semester at a time. That will make it easier because you will know that it's only for a short time, and you can always change your course load next semester if you need to. You will find that it depends on what classes you take too. Some are easy and it will be no problem to take 3 or even 4 at a time, but others are far more difficult and you may want to take only 2 per semester when you take those classes. Your advisor and fellow students will help guide you as you plan for each upcoming semester. Also, some people thrive under pressure and you may find that you enjoy the challenge, and some people fall apart and need to take it slower to be successful! I wish you the very best of luck. I totally enjoyed school. I worked full time, took 2 classes at a time, and raised 3 kids at the same time and loved it all! Look at it as an adventure and a challenge that you will be proud of in the future! In my view, Full time course is better.

Does anyone know of a quality, registered, reviewed, stays open past 6:30pm, and licensed child care center?

-Also that has an actual teaching curriculum program as well in Dallas, Irving, Cedar Hill, Irving, or Duncanville Texas area. Not any in Texas but if you want to know a good daycare in Central Oregon I could help you.

Preschool activity idea?

-Im a freshman taking a class at school that allows me to teach preschoolers. We work in groups to teach a theme of the day. Our theme is "About me"

My idea is to explain to the kids that they are one of a kind and nobody else in the world looks exactly like them. I plan on then having them make handprints and fingerprints with a stamp pad.

Will a stamp pad work, or do I have to find an actual Fingerprint pad? Also, is this a good activity for preschoolers?Hi...

You can compare lots of things that make children unique. Their favorite color, pets, friends, family members (that they live with), what they want to be when they grow up, food they like, etc. I have made hand prints for different things and used washable paint. Use at least a 1 1/2 - 2 inch paint brush (so it's quicker) and paint their palm and fingers with paint. Help them press thier hand onto the paper and lift it off again. Otherwise, they move and it smears. ;-) Have a tub of water ready for hand washing if you do not have a sink available. Then give them a wet wipe or paper towel. You can use paint for fingerprints too, but you can't really see the lines in the fingerprint. It might work if you use very little paint. If you use a stamp pad, make sure it's also washable. I usually try things out on myself before I use it with my students to make sure it works.

One more thing. While you are making prints, you will need a self directed activity for the other children to do. They can play in centers or you can give them another activity to do that they can do on their own. Tell the class before you begin that you will be calling them to your table (where you're painting) and taking turns.

There are also songs and books with themes "About Me" and "I Am Special". Look online and in the school library for ideas. I still look online all the time. The internet is great for ideas. Sometimes... most times, I find something I like, but change it to suit what works for me.

Hope this helps you. ~ Kathy
A stamp pad is okay.

Also you could write their first names in alphabetical order and circle the first letters of their first names, discuss other letters they have in common.

Using butcher block paper, let the children lie down on it and trace the outline of their bodies. They can color and draw in their own features or work as partners and color and draw in each others' features.

I sincerely hope that it all goes well.
GREAT IDEA!!

this will also show the children they are one of a kind.

this will also be fun for them and have a great life lesson. the stamp pad should work, but i would use paint just to be more efficient.

love your idea

What is pre loop and post loop in C?

-Are you referring to pre-TEST and post-TEST loops?

Pre-test loop is when you do some calculation or some function before checking to see if a condition is met. A post-test loop is when calculations are done after a condition is checked.

Pre-test loop (check condition before calculations are done)

while (x < 10) do

// some function

Post-test loop

do

// some function

until (x = 10)

Pre-test is useful if you want to check to determine if the calculations even need to be done BEFORE doing them. For example, if you write a program that checks the current date to find out if today is your birthday, you would check the date BEFORE throwing the party, so your code would look something like this:

if (today == (April 10)) then

ThrowBirthdayParty;

However, if you replace the above code with a post-test loop, you get this:

do

ThrowBirthdayParty

until (today <> (April 10));

What happens in the second example is that the birthday party is thrown BEFORE cheching to see if it needs to be thrown, which is what we don't want in this situation. However, if you do want to perform a function before any checking is done, this can be useful for situations like filling a bucket with grains of sand (when you know for a fact the bucket is empty to begin with).

do

TossInGrainOfSand

while (Bucket <> Empty);

Hope this helps!

Is working in a childcare good?

-im currently doing my certificate 3 in childrens services, planning to do my diploma next year and i love working with children but im not sure how good the pay is and if its a good job? is it rewarding? stressful?

details plz :)I've been working in a daycare for the past year, and here's what it breaks down to:

You will fall in love with the children, but it can be very taxing on your health and stress levels at times, depending on where you work. Average pay varies by what area you're in, but usually if you're working part time, you'll make around $8.00-$9 an hour, and maybe more depending on your experience and educational background. Childcare is not exactly a lucrative business to be in, so don't expect to get rich off of it. However, it is very rewarding and the children will make you smile every day.
it depends on if you like to work with little kids cause i work with little kids and of coarse i love it its so rewarding and it can be stressful at times but its fun
Yes, it's one of the best and cleanest jobs. A truly rewarding one.

Policies and procedures of the setting to promote children positive behaviour?

-child care level 2a good ol' spanking... j/k.

I usually tend to practice the reward method... only reward when a good behavior is done while ignoring the bad ones.

Or stick with a reward method but when child acts out make sure child understands why being punished and stick with a strict punishment... whether it be a time out chair or no snack.

Problem with 4 year old and understanding?

-My daughter will be 4 years old in May, she just started school this past September and the teacher tells me all the time she doesn't understand basic commands, such as are you done with lunch if so throw it away and she went to the bathroom and just walked around. Another time she wore a red shirt and the teacher said everyone wearing red go to the front of class adn she didn't and the teacher went over to her and said you are wearing red so you can go to the front and she kept saying ok but didn't do it. What do i do is there something wrong???Ok there isn't just one good answer and you have gotten many already.

Something to consider is simply that she might be bored with what the class is doing and not sure that she wants to participate.

Something else to consider is that she might actually be uncomfortable in the classroom. Is the room really loud? Is it bright and busy? I know this has typically been the way that classrooms for little people are but some students do not thrive in them. She might be distracted by what is going on at school. This is why it is important for you to be aware of how she responds to your requests in different situations.

"Are you finished with your lunch if you are throw it out" is really a two step problem. She has to figure out if she is finished and then she has to throw it out. But what if she wants it later? what if she thinks she needs to do something else with it. Children are not always as clear about our directions as we think they are- it might be as simple as you recycle and the school doesn't so she didn't know what to do so she avoided the problem and went to the washroom. sometimes small children don't know that they are able to disagree with grown ups or to ask questions of them.

I remember being in preschool and the teacher told us we had to listen to her during circle time, I was so shy that I thought that meant I couldn't go to the bathroom I had to stay and listen so I didn't ask to go and I ended up wetting my pants. we really do observe and take information in much differently when we are very young.

It is much too early to decide if something is wrong. You need to be more alert at home first. Narrow it down to either being in both places or at school first. How does she behave at home? Does the teacher have an accent that she might not understand? You should probably have her hearing checked. If she does what you tell her to but doesn't understand the teacher then there is a language or hearing problem going on. There needs to be some concept checking to see if she understands what's being asked of her. If she talks, she should be able to respond, which should give you some clues. "What color is your shirt?" If she says red, then "What are red-shirt people supposed to do now"? If she doesn't say red then there may be some cognitive delays.
she is developmentally delayed
You are already on the case, which means she's got her mommy in her corner. Give yourself a hug and here are some areas to consider now that you're in the problem solving phase. Ahh parenting... Always new ways to grow in problem solving!

Here are a few things to consider:

0) She's 3. There are a lot of things developing in preschoolers and she may just need some space and love.

1) Have you checked her hearing? That's probably been suggested by the teacher, but it's a good place to start.

2) Since she's new to the preschool, there are many things to get used to. She may be tuning in to the big group atmosphere, even it's only 15 kids, and not feeling ready to commit to moving before she sorts this all out.

3) She could be afraid to take a risk. This is an area where you might be inclined to feel guilty, but hold off, as that won't help if this is the situation! Has she been berated a lot for not doing the right thing? This happened to me when I was young, and I hung back a lot because it seemed too risky.

It would be good to get some parenting classes under your belt, to either curb the tendency to worry about what other's think about your daughter's growth and get into her corner even more, or to build up your knowledge of what's developmentally appropriate so you can set up boundaries so that whoever is berating her stops.

4) Is this school accepting of her taking her time? Does she feel pressured by the staff?

I have 2 kids, 6 and 9, and am a former elementary school teacher. But I still take a parenting class at least once a year, just to keep myself from slipping into unhelpful behavior - too often, that is. Kids have to go through a lot of ups and downs as they grow, and mistakes are a way of life in parenting as we figure out what they're up to. Parenting classes can help us remember to be kind to ourselves as we grow as parents, which helps us be more compassionate to those poor kids, since they are always having the experience of 'failing', which is just growing!

Good luck!

Looking for the song Teapot Rock?

-I'm looking for the song Teapot Rock. At the daycare I used work at one of the other teachers had it on a cd. I'm pretty sure it's called Teapot Rock, it's "I'm a Little Teapot" sung to the tune of We Will Rock You. I know it's not that hard to do but I'd really like to have the recorded version. I've asked around and looked on google... but can't figure out where the song is from or who made it.

How can you avoid having to pee on a road trip?

-I'm going on a 9 hr car ride tomm. with my parents and older sister to Florida and I'm always embarrassed/shy about having to be the one that stops everybody.Talk to your mom about it ahead of time. Explain to her that you feel bad being the one to ask for a bathroom stop and ask for her help. You could ask her to plan to make regular pit stops so everyone can stretch their legs and use the bathroom. It is recommended that anyone on a long road trip do that anyway for best safety, health, and enjoyment of the trip.
Don't drink too many liquids for at least 2 hours before you get in the car and don't drink to much in the car. This includes energy drinks especially as they can often make you have to pee more
Urination is normal. The kidneys clean the body of toxins. To reduce the need restrict drinking fluid before you leave and during the drive, but you can end up with a bladder infection if you don't go when you have to. Mother Nature is in control.
drink as little as possible and go before u start the trip or just ask to stop
Dude, here what you do. It's very simple. Don't drink anything.
Don't drink much, and just try and sleep
Don't drink a lot
idk jsut ask to stop pof

Is computers good in daycare?

-No, we won't dump in early childhood, more than computer "physical education" is better in this ageComputers are fine as long as the other centers (dramatic play, fine motor, sensory, etc) are up and running and complete. If they aren't in top condition, I would suggest you use the money that would be put into the computer center into the other centers first. Children get a lot of screen time at home and in Kindergarten they do plenty of "computer" and every year after they have "computer class" in most schools so computers at the preschool level are not necessary. If you do have computers...limit the time the children use it.
Computers have their place, but it is very limited. Working on the computer should just be one choice among many , along with blocks and puzzles and dolls and paint. No child should be permitted to work on the computer for more than 15 or 20 minutes a day and it should be a cooperative activity with 2 seats at each computer. Software should encourage thinking and creativity and should not be based on TV or movie characters. Computers should only be located in classrooms for children 4 and over.
I might be alone here, but I think computers are good -- for Pre-K. I'd say one computer that has games such as Math Blaster, perhaps an encyclopedia and art-creating programs, as well as writing programs. Assuming a teacher is always on hand to at least introduce the games and how they work and read to them the instructions, it's a great idea.

I've worked both as a young preschool (2.9 years - 4) and pre-k (4-5 years), both with rooms that had a computer, and I'd say that the computer is kind of lost on the preschool children. They're too young, so the games are more about viewing something on a screen rather than engaging. But with Pre-K, they'd open up MSWord, start typing (first nonsensically, then slow, methodical typing to write out their names and the few words they can spell). They'd play various games and learn the rules quickly. It can be quite the educational tool.

Now, for things like internet ... not in a million years. They don't need to check anything online.
Preschoolers need to learn to communicate with each other. I don't care for computers, as kids need to explore not and not let a computer 'tell them' answers can only be right or wrong. So your question is, .......... ARE computers good in day care? ---- my answer is no.
Nah not in my opinion I mean those little kid ones that like sing to you and let you play games and stuff yeah that's cool but a desktop of laptop I would deff say no to
no

What do pre k-4, k-5, pre-school, kindergarten mean?

-I am from another country and I am confused with all these concepts like pre-k, k-4, k-5, etc? I understand (hopefully) that pre-k means preschool and a preschool is different than daycares or early learning centers. Preschool is right before the first grade or elementary school, right? What do k-4, k-5, ...,k-8 stand for? The age issue is another problem. When does a child start preschool or first grade in USA? Are preschools separated or together with elementary schools?

My daughter is almost 4 years old and I need to learn these concept soon, so I can so the right thing for her. If somebody can provide me a source that I can check or explain these issues in details, I will be thankful. Thanks for your help.It sounds like the schools are stating that they offer a Kindergarten through 4th grade (K-4), Kindergarten through 5th grade (K-5), a three and four year old academic pre-kindergarten program (preschool), and Kindergarten is the federally mandated five year old program.

PreK-2, PreK-3, and PreK-4 are the academic preschool programs for two, three, and four year old children. PreK-2 is not a good program. Two year old children shouldn't be subjected to the non-play based "seat work" programs that PreK-2 entails.
Pre K is Preschool, meaning before school. Usually for kids around 3.

K7 would mean 7th Grade. 9th grade is when you start high school :)

Some elementary schools have preschools, and some don't. Usually, first graders are between 6-7. Very few are 5. Your daughter should go to Preschool for about another year, and when she is 5, enroll her in Kindergarten. (: Good Luck (:
Pre-K > Preschool (Ages 3-4)

K-4 > Kindergarten for younger kids suppose to be in Pre-K, because they were higher skilled, so they went in K-4 in stead of Pre-K (Ages 4-5)

K-5 > Is the usual Kindergarten (Ages 5-6)

Hope I helped.. Good Luck (=
You're right that K stands for kindergarten.

K-8 means kindergarten THROUGH eighth grade.

Pre-K stands for pre-kindergarten. This means 1 year before kindergarten.
Pre-k 4 is for 4year olds and Pre-k 5 is for 5 year olds

I am looking for a childrens book about "Do not worry!"?

-I am going to lead a junior church session next sunday about matthew 6,24-34 (Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

And why do you worry about clothes?...)and I would like to read a story to the children linked to that theme, but because I am not a native speaker I do not know english books for children - do you have any suggestions? A book with pictures would be perfect. And the story shouldn't be too long.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-diB65sc鈥?/a>

I think a kid at nursery is being abused, but nursery dont seem to want to know. ?

-My daughter complains this other kid wants to play a game shes been taught that involves touching private parts. My daughter doesnt want to play but this girl wont stop touching her! Nursery say its not possible as the kids are watched constantly. They set up a meeting which no staff showed up for because they had a staff meeting at the same time and cant meet with me again till after half term, 2 weeks from now. They dont seem to be taking it seriously. Number 1 my kid is being bullied, 2 it seems to be sexual (nursery say it cant be considered sexual between such young kids) 3 I'm concerned the other kid has been taught a game involving touching private parts! They seem to think I'm being silly and interfering. What do you thunk? I'm not letting my kid go back until its sorted. You have a responsibility to report your suspicions to the appropriate authority in your country. In the US, there are agencies that ANYONE can call and report such a suspicion to and the child's family will be investigated. It is done in a respectful but thorough manner, does not necessarily involve the reporter and is very effective. If you're not sure how to make such a report, call your local law enforcement agency and ask what to do.
Contact your local social service team and inform them that you have concerns about possible child abuse. They are obliged to investigate.

You are not required to give any of your details when doing this - it can be a totally anonymous process.

If you have concerns then please do it as soon as you read this - what harm can it do? Think about what harm might be happening right now if you don't.
Report it to the police and find another day care for your child.
First of all, I'd remove her from the class/nursery as soon as possible. While you can't put blame on the other child for what they've possibly been exposed to, your daughter (and the other children in the class, for that matter) shouldn't have to deal with being in an unsafe and probably traumatizing situation every time she goes to school. Don't leave it up to this nursery to take care of the situation because they're obviously turning a blind eye to it. Yes, young children are curious about their own and others' bodies on a basic level but what you're describing is much different. While it's highly unlikely the child is even able to comprehend that what she's doing or what's being done to her, let alone understanding the sexual context, she's clearly acting out something she has experienced or witnessed at home. Honestly, if the nursery is being so casual about a very possible child abuse situation, they as a childcare facility should be investigated for the sake of the children who go there. They are OBLIGATED to report things like this and the fact that they're not dealing with it promptly is worrying. I don't know what the process is like where you are but I would imagine it's not incredibly different than the US...a social services agency would seem to be the best route. It's pretty likely that they can point you in the right direction or even give you contact information. Even your local police should be able to help you with such a situation.

Best of luck. I'm sorry your child and you have to go through something like that.
Find another daycare and report this one to child protective services. I don't think the police would do much, except that they might be able to point you towards the right department to report. When you've filed the report, send a copy to the daycare, just to let them know that you've taken the matter seriously even if they don't. I don't want to worry you, but the agency will probably want to interview your daughter. They should be able to do this in a non-threatening way. If your daughter does go back she needs to be told to tell the teacher if another kids bothers her.
You don't say how old these children are, but I guess they must be under five years.

If you are in the UK all you have to do (and must do) is inform your Health Visitor citing the name of the child doing the behaviour. In any other developed country then inform Social Services. The child doing the behaviour is the child who is potentially (until proven) most at risk - Because you have made staff aware of the issue and while in Nursery the children are being supervised.

If you consider your child the victim in this situation why is she being punished by being kept away from Nursery and her other friends.

What do in home daycare providers charge in central Oklahoma?

Lesson plan for preschoolers about Valentine's Day?

-In my school (I'm a Sophomore in high school), we have a preschool that 4-5 year olds attend. I have a lesson plan due on Wednesday and it has to be about Valentine's Day. I've been searching, but there's nothing that won't take long to prepare and will only take the kids about 10 minutes. Can anybody help me on this one?

Thanks! We tend to generalize that Valentine's Day is about friendship and love. Have them make valentine cards or do a lot of art projects to be given as a "gift" to someone they like, typically mom/dad-grandma/grandpa, etc

Scissors: fold a large piece of construction paper in half. Trace a half of heart and have the children cut through both layers, it'll open up to a heart. Then you can do several things...

* use markers, stickers and stamps to create a valentine's card. Have word cards such as Happy Valentine's Day!, I love you (or rebus: I heart U), mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, their name cards if they still need them. Also have slips of paper that if they come up with a word you can write it down and they can copy it.

* have them paint on one side and then fold over the other side and print to make symmetry hearts.

* yarn painting- have them dip yarn into chosen colored paint and lay it on one side of the heart with a bit hanging out the bottom. Then fold down the top half and encourage them to press the paper down and slide the yarn out. Open up the heart and do as often as they wish.

Heart Collages: there are a lot of foam hearts available this time of year...or you can do various colors and sizes of paper hearts.

I've had them cut out a large heart and then helped them trace their hands and then fold down and glue the two middle fingers to make the "I love you" sign and glue that to their heart as a card. They can add stickers/stamps etc to decorate.

You can give them heart shaped plastic canvas and let them "sew" with yarn.

Have fun!well since you have until wednesday to get prepared, there is an art activity that goes welll with the children...The dancing Valentine/heart. Precut medium to large hearts, then cut strips of paper to be the arms and legs. (do all this ahead of time if you can) Then have the children practice folding the strips to create an accordion like effect. allow children to then decorate the heart with with various art materials and finally attached the folded paper arms and legs to the heart.
Do a simple craft where they make a simple Valentines Card with card and hearts cut out of paper and provide glues sticks

they can them give the card to their Mum

you can also find children's Valentines songs online to do as a group and other simple games

I work with pre-school children and just do simple activities and some songs
I agree with others a big heart will do. Teach them how to fold the paper in half and cut one side and the poof it's a heart! You know where you fold the paper in half and draw half a heart cut it and it's a heart!
Have the preschoolers cut out shapes of d!cks shooting sperm out, and then have the class masturbate on them to give them a more true feel. Then for the girls, have them cut of vagina-shaped ones, big enough to practice fisting
Here are some craft ideas.....I especially like the game at the end.

http://www.notimeforflashcards.com/categ鈥?/a>
Try cutting hearts out of construction paper. Get little eyes (or make them) and cut out little mouth. Give them all 1 heart 2 eyes and a mouth. Help them glue and color to give to mommy or daddy!
Teach them about how babies are made. That's always a fun time.
Conduct an autopsy and show them a real life human heart!

What are some emotional characteristics of 4-6 year olds?

-please help its for my child development class and i have been stuck on this question for 1 hourGirls or boys?

Childcare course, homework question about storytelling?

-Im writing up on my project for my childcare course.

For my project i had to video record myself telling a group of children a story.

My paper says i should use the appropriate visual aids and resources

My visual aids were my puppets that i used to tell the story but what is meant by "resources"?

Any help greatly appreciated!!Resources are where things come from.Tell the children where the story came from - any books or other stories that were similar. Maybe record yourself holding up a book that has some of the ideas your story came from - or if your story is not original - show them the actual book.
resources can be anything to help you, from physical things like toys, books and pictures, or things like music.

Toddler speach development - can you help?

-I have a two year old girl who is very early in her speach development and is a chatterbox easily understood by most people when she speaks. She is using complete sentences, multisyllable words (such as dinosaur and delicate) and can sing well over 10 nursery rhymes and lots of kids songs and poems. My question is that despite this early development she is still having a few issues with the following sounds "tr" and "cr". So instead of train she will say: frain for example. She can say hard C and T without any issues, but its the joining up of these hard sounds with the letter r seems to be an issue. I have tried going over the sounds with her in a casual way so as not to discourage her talking, but is this something to be concerned about at her age (26 months)? She does not appear yet able to get her tongue around these sounds.I would say this is not a cause for concern at her age. Those sounds are blends and are sometimes difficult for children quite a bit older than she is. Don't make a big issue of it. Continue to model correct pronunciation. You can correct gently by saying, "Frain? Oh you mean train. Yes that is a big train." But don't push it. She is likely to self-correct eventually and it will not become a problem. It sounds like she is fairly advanced in her speech and language development. Encourage conversation by asking questions and really listening to her answers. Don't forget to encourage other areas of development by reading to her, playing outside, building with blocks, playing with playdough, crayons, and paints! Enjoy these early years. They are very special and go by all too quickly. Someday you will treasure these memories!
Its perfectly normal my daughters already a year ahead in primary school and didn't start talking until 3 years and then it wasn't "look a big black truck" it was "look a big black f*** " a little embarrassing when you try and ignore and she keeps repeating it to you while getting louder.
make her practice the r word and then join two words slowly and make her say the word fast...

for example the word Train...

give her practice to say Rain...

tell her to repeat after you... keep on telling rain... and when you say Train suddenly she'll get it...

that's how i trained my cousins...

Hope this helps.
Not a problem at this age.

I would just make sure you slightly emphasize those sounds in normal speech. Don't overdo it or make a big issue of it, just say 'oh, look at the big TRuck'.

She'll get the idea.

Feliss

(mum to 3 teens)
Her mouth just isn't developed enough. Her brain is working very, very fast and her facial muscles have to catch up. Don't worry they will!
There is absolutely no reason to be concerned. Your child is doing exactly what she should be doing at that age. Keep modeling appropriate language and expose her to songs, books, and rhymes. As her body develops her mouth will be reading to do the blends and digraphs. Remember she is only 26 months and has a long way to go in development. These problems should solve themselves.

Why should children learn to count at early age?

-Why should children learn about counting and numbering in early years. Please i need detailed answersI should the Childern learn also the counting the village of the many childern we have to data entry the excel and formula put the also and counting also then also e.g. age cast so name e.t.c.Well when children are young they take in more knowledge then any Other time in there life and you should read to them and teach them to count because then they will feel the need to pursue knowledge for the rest of their life. Then i have to counting the excel & access entry the data and put the furmala also and count age male female cast name e.t.c
Younger children learn quickly as their brains appears to be more receptive. That is especially true of languages. But counting is important the rest of the life, and progresses into the alphabet, adding, subtracting, etc. The sooner the better
Well when children are young they take in more knowledge then any Other time in there life and you should read to them and teach them to count because then they will feel the need to pursue knowledge for the rest of their life.
Because children are like sponges and absorb knowledge better than adults
It's not important. They can start learning to count when they go to school.
cuz when they r older they cant absorb as much knowledge so teach them the easier stuff first then go to the harder stuff

What are the pros and cons with being a preschool teacher/special pedagogue?

-I'm planning to study at university to become a preschool teacher since I'm great with kids and consider it fun and an important job. After a few years I plan to continue studying into a special pedagogue.

What would you consider the pros and cons with these professions? As a Pre-K teacher, I say you must REALLY love your job, love the children, because it is ROUGH.

The cons are downright innumerable: low pay, low respect (there's this attitude that the younger the student, the less intelligent the teacher) ... there are issues when it comes to finding a proper school to work at (a lot of places like to jam-pack their classroom to maximum capacity, or they aren't properly managed, etc). For me, I find myself just getting into situations where I feel like I cannot do any right. Parents complain if I don't immediately say, "Good morning" to their kid, or if I sighed before telling a parent about their child's day (that actually just happened to me last week -- a parent complained to my director, saying, "Well I know my child is energetic but the sigh made me feel like dealing with my son is a pain!"). I also had a parent point out that I sometimes misspell words on the white board that I use to write about what happened in my classroom that day.

All this work, plus the staff meetings that take place after hours, the late night parent-teacher conferences, the constant workshops to maintain certification (at least that's how it is in my state) ... it can be too much sometimes.

But you know what? The rewards might be few in number, but they're great in quality. Seeing a child finally get how to spell his name, hearing a child "use their words" when in conflict with another child, hearing a student laugh when you know that child had a history of being upset in school. When a parent comes in and she's so excited to pick up her son and find out about his day -- to see her look at that whiteboard, not to be picky about spelling but to find out what her son did.

It seems like you have to be a glutton for punishment to do this job, but I could not see me doing anything else.Nothing. These professions aren't highly respected. Be a police officer.
dont do it

Child Study tips please?

-I am training to be a Childcare worker, and as part of my coursework,I have to submit five observations on one child as part of a "Child Study" in all five areas of development, Physical, Intellectual.Language,Emotional.Social. Has anyone with any past experience of Childcare courses any advice on how to do a good child study? Thanks so much!

What are some sign language games for kids under 6?

-I am teaching a sign language to a group of 4, 6, and 7 year olds. They love to play "Mother May I", but I would like to introduce a new game. We played a relay game, but they just insisted that we play "Mother May I" again. I really need to find another game to play, any suggestions will be greatly apreciated.I would play like a memory game. Make cards with different words on them (some that the kids know and some that they don't) go over all the signs in the beginning and then set the cards face down either laid out or in a pile like go fish then a child turns over a card and signs the word on the card. The 4 year old might need help reading the word, but I think this would be really helpful in learning new signs and reviewing the old ones. I used sign language with my toddlers and it worked really well to let me know what they wanted and needed.
A fun one to do in a gym or something is act the animal. Have different pics of animals...horse, cat, fish, bird, monkey...and then each child picks one then acts I out. Then others guess the animal. Then you show them the sign for the animal. This also gets the kids used to gesturing out what they want o get across.
you could play "I Spy" with them or you could play "Hide and Seek."

How do you handle irrelevant comments during meetings?

-Once a month we have to do a tedious 8 hour long in-service. There are presentations that range from infectious disease to bus safety and a ton of other subjects. It's hard enough to have to sit on hard benches for that long, but there are employees who are always making comments and asking stupid questions that have nothing to do with the information given. I've long said that our in-services could be a half day if it weren't for all this wasted time. It drives me crazy. How do you handle this?Sounds chaotic and not properly facilitated.

Ground Rules: Write them and stick to them.

Presentations will be NO longer than 1/2 hour and will be stopped at that point.

Give members a specific time slot (before lunch) and or/ before PM tea break for questions that they have jotted down.

Assign a facilitator to the day who can intervene and be assertive to say (We'll address this issue during Q time or ask the member to jot down and use at Q time. Or say "that Q is very relevant to the topic being discussed at this time.

Or write to HR about waste of resources

may wish Members wont disturb during lectures . Any , and will be stopped at . Members will jot down any The answer is
Sometimes I smile, nod, and give one word answers. Other times I just stare at them and say/do nothing if it's just a comment that doesn't require an answer.

I also hate unnecessary small talk.

There might be a better way to handle such situations than what I do.
For me i just used to be insensitive in this kind of situation. I always trying to used my patience to handle it, in that way I can show that I'am serious in answering them, so they will stop answering more.
Arm yourself with lots of relevant questions, speak up and make it YOUR meeting!
Ignore them.
