What schooling is required to become a preschool teacher?

-I am out of high school, already taken a few classes in college, but im taking a break from college this quarter to figure out what I want to do.

I really would like to become a preschool teacher or a private school elementary teacher, but I know nothing about the exact schooling required for this.

Does anyone have experience in this field?

Does anyone know how many years of college this would require, or if there is a special program i could take to pursue this? Also if you can get an online degree for this, and which online school would be the best?
