-I haven't worked in the Bay Area for many years, so I wasn't going to answer your question, but since no one else has really answered it, I will tell you what I know.
I took my Montessori training with teachers from Heads Up Montessori. They seemed to be aware, educated, and caring. I visited the school once in the mid-90's and was amazed to see that every elementary child had their own computer. Most of the other schools had one or two for the whole school. Now a computer per child might not seem very Montessori, but when used correctly, for research, it really can be.
Sorry, but this is the only school I feel comfortable referring you to and I have no real idea of what they are like today, but at least it is a place to start for you. There are definitely others in the area that are very good, but I have been out of the loop for many years and don't know which ones are still around.
One set of schools to stay AWAY from are the Pioneer Schools. I heard that at one time they were wonderful, but the man who started them died and his second wife inherited them. She wasn't an educator, and had no real interest in Montessori. Her only reason for keeping the schools was to make money. (She lived in Hawaii and had people fax her with questions or problems. My first memory of her was when she had flown in for her yearly staff evaluations.I heard her yelling at a teacher to "Get off of her high Montessori horse!" She was adamant. The children couldn't pour their own drinks. They could spill them and that would ruin the rug she just put in. (Anyone who knows Montessori philosophy knows that this goes completely against one of the most basic tenets of the philosophy.)
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If you want some information on finding authentic Montessori schools, here is a link that might help you. http://www.montessorianswers.com/selecti鈥?/a>http://www.pamontessori.com/
