What kind of classes do you have to take to work at a daycare?

-I live in Burton, Michigan and i need to know what kind of classes i need to take? if they will let me bring my son to the daycare? and what age you have to be to work at a daycare? im 19 will be 20 in march! Most day cares will hire at 18. Any younger they can't legally leave you in charge or alone with the children.

Most day cares will hire with minimal or no experience for an aide-assistant position. They will require a HS diploma or equivalent. And of course, it varies from day care to day care. Some have higher standards. They usually provide CPR/First Aid certification but some may require you to get it on your own. Taking early childhood classes and even getting your CDA would be benefitial. Many daycares will work around a school schedule. They love staff who have or are in the process of earning an early childhood degree. :-)

Yes, most will allow you to bring your son but remember that 1) he may not be in the same classroom as you 2) you may still have to pay 50-100% of tuition. I know of some who consider child care of your children a "benefit" but most do not.

Good luck!
Some daycares don't require classes but some do. I know their are four very basic classes that you need to take to receive a certificate. You can look at this website NAEYC. This will help you for out what classes that you need. They can help direct you in the right area that you live in if you call. I know this because I am a preschool teacher who is currently finishing up my bachelors in Early Childhood Education.
