What toys can help with learning/development?

-It depends on what age group you are working with. Look up a KAPLAN Early Learning or HATCH catalogue on-line or look up these products on Amazon.com and they will tell you which educational toys are appropriate depending on the age. Leap Frog interactive toys are educational and my nieces are crazy about them. The beauty of children between the ages of 0 - 8 is that downright everything helps learning development. Those blocks are teaching them spacial skills, architecture, problem solving. Those dolls are helping them understand social rules and rituals.

Some toys I have in my Pre-K classroom include the following:

- Magnet tiles (of various geometric shapes)

- Peg boards (sorting by colors, etc, is the foundation to math)

- Large wooden beads and string

- Multicultural dollhouse dolls (or various skin tones and family types)

- Composition notebooks (this addition has been AMAZING -- each kid gets their own notebook with their name on it. They're available to be taken/used and can be used in any area, as long as they're safe with the pencils (which they can also grab whenever). They write "diagnoses" when they pretend dress-up is a doctor's office, they draw pictures of their buildings in block area, they pretend to do "homework", etc)

- Legos

- "Bingo" games (where they match a picture on a card with a picture on a board)

- Puzzles (puzzles are honestly the perfect type of toy. Spacial skills, problem solving skills, cause & effect...I could go on)

- Peg "mazes" (perfect for fine motor skills)

- Sensory bottles (regular water bottles filled with various things, like oil & water, or various items that sink or float, etc)

- Mr Potato Head (sounds silly, but that teaches them that parts contribute to a whole -- you have to learn that a face is made up of two eyes, a nose, a mouth, or that a car is made up of four wheels, doors, etc)

Essentially, if the child has to actively engage in the day (as opposed to passive enjoyment like TV), it's good for their learning and development! It's even better with a teacher next to them talking about the toy and suggesting different ways of using them)
Leap Frog has a toy and letters you place the letter on the board and push the letter it says the letter and sings a short song telling how the letter sounds. you can buy the letters in capital lowercase and get the numbers. Also from Leap frog my first computer,
Blocks are great. Lego for older kids. Also just having lots of art supplies around - crayons and paper is fantastic. Books too, you can never have enough books. However, remember it is not just the toys that you have around, but the time that you spend playing with your kids.
Many toys have a learning/ developmental benefit to them:

-fine motor skills: lego, dress up dolls, play doh

-large motor skills: balls, skipping ropes

-problem solving: puzzles, blocks

-team work, cooperation, counting: board games, cards
Toys that has big letters and big numbers can easily hook-up the interest of youngs... I suggest to give them a puzzles that can help to sharp their minds...
also you can buy blocks with numbers
diploma in electrical engineering
condoms REALLY help with deveopment of children! No.. Wait they PREVENT it. I was wrong.
High-tech toys.
your dildo isn't so leave it at home!
