Supply and demand for male preschool teachers?

-Not sure of the question, but my preschooler has a male preschool teacher, and he's the best in the school. Everyone loves him (parents wise) and the supervisors seem really pleased with him. I haven't seen one parent in his class freak out when they saw a man teacher.

Just don't grow a beard. My brother got hell for that when he pursued a job as a middle school teacher. Instead, He's a private tutor now, because of the crap he got.

If you are good, they shouldn't even think twice about it. Good luck.We definately need more positive male role models in the early childhood field. Unfortunately, there are very few because of the stereotypes out there. It takes a confident male to work in a field that has been and will probably always be staffed with the majority female. I find that a good male preschool teacher really adds to the team because many of our students do not have positive male role models, and really-males think differently than females and so they bring in a different perspective-which is almost always beneficial. I also find that though there may be more males out there considering early childhood, the fact of the matter is ...men are still considered the "bread winners" most of the time and preschool teachers do not make enough to raise a family.
