-I run an in-home childcare service and want a curriculum for my toddlers. I used to use Brighter Vision which came with a hard back book, manipulatives, and a workbook. I loved this system, but they either do not exist anymore or have changed their name. I want a system like that for my kids. It ran about $20 a month which is very affordable for the low income families I work with. I buy the curriculums out of their tuition which is hard for me and them. I also loved being able to send home the book at the end of the month for my parents and their children. I need some advice on great quality low cost curriculumsKnowing your students and their parents like you do have you thought about writing your own curriculum? It might be more cost effective for you and then you can buy materials to just supplement what you teach. A curriculum can be based on many things for instance colors, shapes, perhaps the parents could be encouraged to buy the same book and that would encourage parent child interaction.
There are a lot of pre school lesson plans on the web you could incorporate into your lessons.
You might look into buying used curriculum, maybe at homeschool fairs or something similar.
I looked around and all of the ones I could find were a little expensive, there were a few "free" ones but they didn't look particularly comprehensive and didn't seem to be too high a quality. Do they need to fit a particular state's performance standards? I know that Georgia has performance standards for preschool, though I haven't been able to get a copy of them yet.
Depco LLC develops and markets educational curriculum for early childhood, K-12, and the post-secondary market. At times they also partner with the local college, Pittsburg State University, in doing research about curriculum for younger children. To date they have Secret Codes that helps with literacy. They also have a program for pre-kindergarten which incorporates science, music, arts and crafts, snacks, math, physical activity, character development and a weekly parent newsletter. This program is meant to last 10 to 12 months depending on the packages that come with it.
