What Preschool schedule is the best preparation for Kindergarten?

-My son has always done some form of day care or preschool. He is currently doing afternoon preschool 3x/week and will do preschool again next year, then start Kindergarten in the Fall of 2012. Should I move him to a 4x/week schedule? Should I do am's instead of pm's? What will better prepare him for a full day Kindergarten schedule?I would move it to am. Usually, although not always, the bulk of the "work" and learning is done in the morning. Not only that it might help him get in the right routine, waking up at the same time going to bed early.



The best, if you can do it, would be to have full days even if you dropped him down to only two days a week.



It's good your thinking of this, most people don't. New kindergartner's are just exhausted the first few days of school.
In my opinion I would say go with the 4 days and go for AM. The morning preschool will get him in the routine of waking up early. Then once you pick him up you can feed him lunch and let him take a nap. That will be most his day there, usually by the time Kindergartners wake up from nap they only have a few hours left of their day.
I agree with the idea of moving him to am. As he gets older, he will always have to get up early to go to school and it helps to get him used to the schedule from early days.
