-In this record could someone tell me if it is useful information and contains jims interests. Do you think i should of included other children in the record
"Jim sat at block area for 25minutes working on a long block track that used all the blocks on the self"
ThanksAn anecdote is a story. When used for observing, it is a story about a child鈥檚 behaviour. Similar to how we might recount a story to family and friends, it is told in the past tense. It has its beginning when a child starts to participate in an activity and its conclusion when the child leaves/completes/exits the experience. Considering this record is supposed to be about Jim's interests I wouldn't include other children in the record, unless you are wanting to focus on his social interactions. It is an excellent item to include in an anecdotal. You can improve it by adding a little detail. Did he add trains or anything else to the track. Did he talk during the process? Were any other children involved? I already know that he has a nice long attention span. What else can I learn?
That would be an anecdotal record for Jim specifically.

You could write that shorter by saying
For 25 minutes, Jim used all the blocks to make a long block track.
