-Hello! I'll try to keep the background information brief and get to the heart of the problem. I work at an English kindergarten for Koreans in South Korea. The goal is to immerse the children in an all English speaking atmosphere and get them comfortable with reading / writing / speaking / listening in English.
The problem that I need help with is that of the 18 children that I have between my two classes I have two little girls, one of whom in particular, who over the past 6 months simply REFUSES to have fun or enjoy school. We go on field trips to theme parks, movies, we have arts and crafts and science experiments in class, fun games, fun lessons, the works... nothing moves this sweet little girl. Every other day it's like she's having the hardest day of her life. She doesn't cry, but she just sits with her eyes down for the most part every other day. What can I do to brighten this child's outlook on things? Her parents are just as baffled as I am.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Sincerely,
Confused Teachermy daughter was the same way in preschool and in kindergarten. her problem was that she wasn't comfortable with large groups of kids. she was very shy. she would rather talk to adults than the kids. we had to just wait it out and encourage her to get involved. they will come around when they are ready just don't push
