-Hi,
I have to lecture for 10 minutes for ten 5 yrs old kids.
small question: is it a good idea to let them know in the beginning that they can ask any question they want
OR
better to tell them they can ask question in the end?
just not sure what is more appropriate for this age group.
THANKS.Depends on the kids and the setting. Preschool let them ask during lecture (but be aware that the kids will want to tell you something that doesn't pertain to the subject) and if it's kindergarten they can usually wait till the end. You could take questions and write them down for the kids and tell them you will answer all the questions written at the end. I almost think that 10 mins is almost to long for kids to be just sitting there listening to a person talk. They will soon tune you out after like 2-3 mins unless you are reading a book or something. They are not in daycare anymore... these kids will most likely b in kindergarten already. They need structure and let them know you will discuss something and allow for questions at the end.... of course you know they will have questions and can't sit still focused for such a long time. So give frequent breaks to ask questions or allow them to share a quick message related to the subject being discussed.
You know the children in this age can't stay without talking let them ask question it will be easy and for you.
